View MapWhat could be better than a leisurely sojourn among some of Napa Valley’s welcoming wineries, with your canine companions in tow? Here is one itinerary sure to make for a most memorable day for wine- and dog-lovers, some of our favorite friends.
A start to your furry companion day can start at Pine Ridge Vineyards, located on the Silverado Trail in the Rutherford nested appellation. Slip into a shaded table in their recently renovated garden setting, with vineyard views abounding. Bring a picnic and take advantage of the bottle service option for a truly relaxing, just-taking-in-the-vistas vibe while slowly sipping and drinking in the dappled light. Your four-legged companions will be refreshed from their ride with water bowls and treats of their own. For a more structured wine tasting, dogs are also allowed in Pine Ridge’s Estate Tasting and other garden offerings.
Just a short jaunt up the Silverado Trail, Paraduxx is a bit of paradise for both wine and dog lovers. Cozy dog beds await well-behaved creatures in Paraduxx’s courtyard, along with water bowls. One especially fun offering featured at Paraduxx is a Barkuterie plate for doggie guests to enjoy for $10. The plate includes rotating dog treats, with a play on “fresh n’ crunchy” local ingredients, like sliced apples and peanut butter. Paraduxx is known for innovative Napa Valley wine blends which can be enjoyed whether through a guided tasting or the Rector Creek Overlook bottle service (a cheese and charcuterie pairing plate provides human treats!) experience. Need to recharge not only your day but your car? Electric and Tesla charging stations are available.
Ready for lunch? Tuck over to Highway 29 and St. Helena for a visit to Clif Family Winery. Wines from their organically farmed estate vineyards pair with seasonal produce from the organic Clif Family Farm and are fashioned into delicious food in the Bruscheterria food truck. Grab a rotisserie chicken (think tidbits to tempt your canine friend) to enjoy on the patio and perhaps a Clif Bar dog treat. Water bowls are always available and if you’re looking for a memento of your trip for your dog, branded water bowls, leashes and pet toys are for sale.
Heading north on Highway 29, perhaps a wonderful way to end your day for animal lovers is at Tamber Bey. This dog-friendly winery is located on a 22-acre horse farm in Calistoga, the only one of its kind in the valley. Visitors to the property have the opportunity to taste great wines and mingle with the horses, including Arabians, polo ponies, a Friesian, a Gypsy Drum Horse, a herd of miniature horses and Mustangs. Guests are permitted to interact with the horses in the barn and the ranch and winery tour includes a walk around the property to meet the horses out in the pastures. For canine members of the group, there is a dog park on the grounds for a bit of frolic and leg stretching before heading home, along with water bowls and dog treats.
