Bordeaux Blonde’s Picks: Family & Wine

View MapI love when I get to experience family-owned wineries in Napa Valley that uphold family values of togetherness, hard work and a passion for wine. Here is an itinerary that will take you to three great family-owned wineries in beautiful Napa Valley.
Begin the day at Miner Family Winery. Not only are the elevated porch views overlooking the vineyards picturesque, one of my favorite parts of the tour was getting to walk through their crush pad and into their amazing hillside caves. Inside the caves they have unique tasting areas set up and space for private wine dinners. Their wines range from Bordeaux-style blends to Chardonnay (which was even featured at multiple White House dinners). Bring a bottle of the Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon home with you - you won’t regret it!
Next stop is the brand-new tasting room at the Baldacci Family Vineyards. I had driven by the construction of this gorgeous tasting room for so long it was so exciting to finally be able to visit. I love the interior design of the entire tasting room. It is elegant and modern, but comfortable and I felt at home enough to sit and have a glass of wine with my friends. I find the Baldacci family story fascinating. Thomas & Brenda Baldacci purchased this property in 1998 and now their son, Michael Baldacci, is the Winemaker and Vineyard Manager. I love that they have vineyards in Calistoga, Stags Leap District and beautiful Los Carneros. They produce one my favorite wines (a Pinot Noir), and Cabernet Sauvignon that is 100% Cab, sparkling wines and more.
The last stop on our family-owned winery tour is the lively Hill Family Estate tasting room in downtown Yountville. Their tasting room is a great spot to have a little more wine before heading to dinner at one of world-class restaurants within walking distance. You can sit outside here, providing a opportunity to enjoy your wine while getting some sun on your cheeks. You may even spy renowned chef Thomas Keller walking down the street to one of his many Michelin-starred restaurants in town (true story!). The Hill family decided to plant roots just outside of north Yountville back in the 1980s and began to establish their vineyards and make wine. My favorite they offer now is the 2021 Stewart Ranch Albariño.
