Pym-Rae is the Tesseron family’s Napa Valley estate, located high on Mount Veeder. After a four-year search for an exceptional terroir in Napa Valley, the family discovered the property and acquired it in January 2016.

Spanning 653 acres, the property is surrounded by forest, with just 18.4 acres planted to vines at elevations reaching approximately 1,600 feet. The vineyard’s mountain location provides the cooler conditions the Tesseron family sought, while its distinctive soils and natural environment contribute to wines of depth, freshness and balance.

When Alfred Tesseron first tasted the grapes from the vineyard, he immediately recognized its potential, describing the fruit as “unique.” Drawing upon generations of winemaking experience in Bordeaux, the Tesseron family has since dedicated itself to revealing the distinctive character of this remarkable Mount Veeder terroir.

The estate was previously the home of the late Robin Williams, who named the property “Pym-Rae” by combining the middle names of his two eldest children. The Tesseron family chose to retain the name as a tribute to the history and spirit of the property.

Today, the vineyard is farmed biodynamically with a deep respect for the land and its natural ecosystem. Produced exclusively from the estate vineyards and in very limited quantities, Pym-Rae expresses the power, freshness and distinctive mountain character of its Mount Veeder origins.
