About Us
The Snowden ranch lies on the eastern slopes of the Napa Valley overlooking the towns of Rutherford and St. Helena. Premium wine grapes have been farmed on the property since it was homesteaded in 1878. Our family came to the property in 1955 and so far four generations have walked the vineyards. After several decades of growing grapes for other producers, we began producing our own wines in 1993. Diana Snowden Seysses became our winemaker in 2005 and continues in that role today. All wines released under our Snowden label are produced exclusively from fruit grown on the property. Our wines lean toward a neo-classic style -- we farm carefully (we utilize organic farming practices and will be applying for organic certification in 2024), we harvest at moderate sugar levels, all of our red wines are fermented by wild, native yeasts, we ferment dry, we don't add sugar before bottling, and our red wines are unfined. Our goal is to taste the nuance of site, variety and vintage in every wine we make.

Tasting Experience
We offer private tastings by prior appointment at our small tasting room in St. Helena. To schedule an appointment, visit our website, email us at tasting@snowdenvineyards.com, or call us at 707-963-4292. Tastings are casual and simple, with a focus on the wines. They are hosted by family members or regular staff members who enjoy stepping away from the office or vineyards to meet with visitors. If possible, we appreciate a week or more lead time to schedule a tasting, as it can be difficult for our hosts to shift to a tasting on short notice. Our tasting fee is currently $40 per person. Each tasting fee may be applied as a credit toward each $100 or more of wine purchased during the tasting. We can accommodate groups of up to 8 people. Children are allowed when accompanied by their parents, although they of course cannot taste. Well behaved dogs are also fine.
