About Us
Haynes Vineyard is located in the Coombsville region of Napa Valley, situated within the collapsed caldera of an ancient volcano. Established in 1967, it is home to the oldest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir plantings in Napa Valley, along with Syrah vines.
Haynes Vineyard's philosophy centers on a deep connection to terroir—embracing not only the unique volcanic soil, climate, and grapes but also honoring the generations of people who have lived on and cared for the land. Under winemaker Nico Cueva's stewardship, Haynes follows a minimalist approach to winemaking, using oak sparingly "to frame the wine, like wood frames a painting" and viewing their role as "wine stewards" rather than interventionist winemakers.
Our winemaking ethos is captured in three concepts: "Vigneron" (what they grow), "Forgeron" (what they make), and "Corazon" (what they love)—reflecting a commitment to producing authentic, place-driven wines that honor the centuries-long relationship between the land and its caretakers.
