Makers' Stories
Francisco Lopez Garcia
— Everyday I go to work I feel honored to be a winemaker in the Napa Valley

If you weren't a Napa Valley vintner, what would you be doing?
Touring the world as a bass player with a funk band!
How did you get started in the wine business?
Growing up in Spain and having studied Agricultural Engineering, winemaking seemed more fun than any of the other professional alternatives. And it has turned out to be!
Tell us about your first Napa Valley harvest…
My introduction to Napa Valley winemaking began in 2018, when I had the privilege of working at Cakebread Cellars during the summer break of my Master's studies at UC Davis.
Name a Napa Valley vintner who has influenced you and briefly explain why.
Sara Jablow, who was my boss during my first harvest, and became my good friend and winemaking mentor ever since.
What's your all-time favorite food and wine pairing?
Gewurztraminer with foie gras and lychee. The ultimate molecular pairing.
If you could open a bottle of your wine and share it with any three people (living or not), who would they be?
My dad and my two late grandpas.
