Napa Valley winemakers craft their finest, most innovative and creative wines exclusively for Premiere Napa Valley. For 2022, in addition to the debut of the 2020 vintage there were also wines from 2019, 2021 and multi-vintage wines. Premiere Napa Valley 2022 began Wednesday, February 23 and concluded with the live auction grand finale on Saturday, February 26, 2022.
For 2022, Premiere Napa Valley was powered by Sotheby’s – who produced a professional and world-class auction allowing trade to bid from anywhere in the world. The Sotheby’s platform elevated the Premiere Napa Valley experience, making the wine you buy more valuable and visible to collectors and discriminating wine drinkers globally.
For 2022, in addition to the classic Premiere Napa Valley auction, we were pleased to launch the first edition of the Vintage Perspective Auction, hosted via Sotheby’s advanced bidding technology. Sotheby’s and Napa Valley Vintners were pleased to launch the first edition of Vintage Perspective Napa Valley alongside Premiere Napa Valley. This auction offered a new opportunity for licensed members of the wine trade to acquire library wines direct from the wineries' cellars and specifically features cases of wine from the 2001 - 2010 vintages. This opportunity is ideal for any trade account, particularly restaurants, interested in adding ready-to-drink wines to their portfolio.
For 2022, Premiere Napa Valley is powered by Sotheby’s. Bidding registration and payments will go through Sotheby’s with whom we have negotiated a below-industry-standard buyer’s premium of 8% that will be added to all sales. Following your in-person or virtual registration with NVV, you will need to create an account with Sotheby’s and register to bid for the Premiere Napa Valley Auction. Sotheby’s will issue a bidding number/paddle after you submit your resale license/permit. As always, the auction is open only to members of the wine trade; all lots are sold FOB California; shipping arrangements, shipping and insurance are the sole responsibility of the purchaser; full payment for the lot must be made no later than March 31, 2022. All Sotheby’s Conditions of Business will apply.
What is a live-streamed auction?
On Saturday, February 26 the Premiere Napa Valley live auction will open via a live online format. There will be an auctioneer who will introduce the lot, start off the bidding at the current highest bid, and then accept bids via online or over the phone to close the lot. Best to be logged in and ready to bid as the closing of lots will happen pretty fast.
When does bidding for both auctions begin?
For both Premiere Napa Valley and the Vintage Perspective Auction, bidding opens Wednesday, February 23. The Vintage Perspective Auction is online only, and bidding on both auctions concludes on Saturday, February 26.
